My take on a classic summer time cocktail

My sister first made this salad for my friend Lynda and I when we were in our teens. We both loved it so much that she had to double the recipe for us the next time! I think that it was taken from my mom's Madame Benoit cookbook, which has been lost over the years. It has been modified slightly from the original recipe.

Keeping the components separate until serving means the texturescalation and tastes remain fresh! Easier to store too, since there's less to go mushy.
