Entirely Unwholesome but Delicious French Toast

I read dozens of French toast recipes and combined the best (worst) parts of each into my own. I even upgraded some ingredients to more artery-stopping options.

I read dozens of French toast recipes and combined the best (worst) parts of each into my own. I even upgraded some ingredients to more artery-stopping options.
Steps
- 1
Set out the eggs and butter in advance (perhaps overnight) to bring them to room temperature. This helps keep the butter from solidifying in the mix later.
- 2
Whisk the eggs while adding in the half-and-half, syrup, vanilla, and spices.
- 3
Melt the butter and slowly pour into the mix while continuing to whisk. This is to keep the butter from solidifying into large blobs in the mix.
- 4
Dunk slices of bread one at a time, making sure it is covered in delicious goop. Don't let it linger too long, lest it get soggy.
- 5
Lay each slice of bread onto a medium-heat griddle or pan. You do not need oil or butter on the pan. Trust me, there's enough fat in the mix already.
- 6
Flip each slice when lightly browned.
- 7
Serve topped with maple syrup.
