Brown bacon add optional sugar to fried bacon.

In a deep pot sauté onion and garlic with olive oil; until onions are lightly brown

Add collards layering with spices to fried bacon add broth and cover pot and cook until tender over medium heat for about 30 minutes.(Or cook in the slow-cooker on high for 4 hours or until greens are tender.)

Taste and adjust seasonings. Serve with balsamic vinegar, optional.
