Baharat Pork and Rice

I must confess that I never even have heard of Baharat spice blend until I stumbled on to it at the discount shelf at my local grocery store. For $1 why not! Got home and wow this smells amazing and tastes great! Savory, kinda spicy with a hint of sweet but not enough to be scared of. This meal is super easy and tastes amazing! Has become a staple go to meal.

Steps

  1. 1

Add rice, crushed red pepper flakes, 1 tsp garlic powder and chicken stock to the rice cooker. If your rice cooker has a steaming basket add the broccoli now, otherwise thaw in the microwave and mix into the rice when it's done.

  2. 2

Add a little oil to a large skillet and put in the ground pork, baharat seasoning and 1 tsp garlic powder.

  3. 3

Use a spatula to break up the pork into as fine of pieces as possible making sure the spices are well mixed throughout.

  4. 4

Mix up the cornstarch slurry and add to the pork. Turn the heat up a bit to make sure the slurry bubbles lightly to thicken and the raw taste cooks out.

  5. 5

Once the pork and cornstarch has come together to the desired consistency spoon over the rice and broccoli.

I have always been in love with flavor combinations even before I was allowed to use the stove by myself. I would come home from school and test out what was on hand with what I could maybe cook in the microwave. Little did I know I was starting down a life long journey of exploring flavors and recipes that I love and share with the people I care the most about.https://www.instagram.com/theeclecticcook/https://pin.it/vuncaiso65qrkl
