Steps
- 1
Preheat oven to 160°C. Grease and flour the baking tray.
- 2
For the dough:
Mix together in a bowl the dry ingredients and add water a little at a time, mixing with your hands, to a nice soft bread dough, cover with a cloth and leave in a warm place to rise, almost double the size. - 3
Once risen, tip the dough on a floured surface and roll out to a rectangular shape, and about 5cm thick.
- 4
Spread the melted margarine all over the top of the dough, followed by the grated garlic, lemon zest, Parmesan cheese and Chakalaka/Mince.
Then starting on the edge of the longitudinal side, tightly roll the dough towards the other end. - 5
Transfer the rolled dough on to the baking tray, making any shape of your choice. Brush top with lightly beaten egg. Place in the oven and bake for 30 minutes until golden brown and well risen.
