Som Tum Pu Pla Ra (Papaya Salad with Fermented Crab and Fish Sauce)

Pound the red chili peppers and garlic in a mortar and pestle until finely crushed. Add chopped long beans and lightly pound. Add sliced tomato and Thai eggplant to the mortar. Season with the juice of one small lime and add the pickled field crab.

Taste and adjust the seasoning as desired. Add shredded green papaya to the mortar.

Pound everything together until well mixed. Taste again and adjust the flavor if needed. Once the taste is to your liking, the salad is ready to serve.
