Ingredients

20 minutes
3 servings
  1. 1 cupBasmati Rice :
  2. Seasoning
  3. 1 tbspOil or Ghee (vegetable oil or coconut oil)
  4. 1/4 tspMustard seeds
  5. 1/2 tspUrad dal (black gram)
  6. 1 pinchFenugreek seeds
  7. 1/4 tspJeera (cumin seeds)
  8. 1 pinchAsafoetida(optional) a dash to the seasoning
  9. 7-10Curry Leaves
  10. 2Dry Red Chilli
  11. 1Green Chilli (cut into thin slices)
  12. 1/4 tspTurmeric
  13. 1" pieceGinger piece(finely chopped)
  14. 1 &1/2 tspPeanuts (optional)
  15. Garnish
  16. 1Lemon (1/2 lemon juice for flavor, 2 rings of Lemon for garnishing)
  17. 1&1/2 tbspFresh Cilantro finely chopped

Steps

  1. 1

    Cook Rice with two cups of water with required salt and 1/4 tsp ghee added to it. Once the water comes to boil add salt, ghee and rice to it and simmer the flame and let it cook for 10 to 15 min or until done. Once don keep it aside to cool.

    Heat oil and add urad dal, fenugreek seeds and peanuts and wait till it is light brown in colour. Now add mustard seeds, once it sputters add cumin seeds, red chilli, curry leaves, chopped ginger, dash of asafoetida, turmeric powder and last the chopped green chilli. Immediately sprinkle this seasoning over the rice and also add lemon juice and chopped cilantro mix carefully so that the rice does not get broken or mushy.

    Serve it garnished with lemon rings
