A spicy Bata fish preparation from the house of Bengal.
Steps

Marinate the fishes with 1 teaspoon turmeric powder and salt.

Heat some oil in a wok and deep fry the fishes. Keep them aside.

In the same wok, heat more oil if required and add the kalaunji. Let it splutter.

Add the mustard paste and green chillies paste and the rest of the turmeric powder.

Fry for a couple of mins and then add some water for the gravy.

Bring the water to boil. Add some salt according to taste.

Add the slitted green chillies.

Add the fishes. After you get the desired consistency in the gravy, add some mustard oil in it for a strong flavour of mustard.

Garnish it with coriander leaves. Remove it from the flame. Serve hot with steamed rice.
