Ingredients

20 minutes
3-4 servings
  • 2 cupstur dal
  • 2onions
  • 5-6garlic cloves
  • 2 inchgrated ginger
  • leavesFew curry
  • 2 tbspred chilli powder
  • 1 tspturmeric powder
  • 1-1/2dhaniya jeera powder
  • 1 tspkasuri methi powder
  • 1 tspgaram masala powder
  • 3-4green chillies
  • to tasteSalt
  • 1 tspJeera/ cumin
  • 1 PinchHing /asafoetida
  • as neededGhee
  • 3cloves,
  • 3 black paper black pepper
  • 1 stick cinnamonstick cinnamon
  • 2star anise and bay leaves
  • 1tomato rose for garnishing
  • as neededBrown fried onions for garnishing
  • as neededCoriander leaves for garnishing

Steps

20 minutes
  1. 1

    Soak dal for half an hour. Then pressure cook.

  2. 2

    Heat ghee add jeera, garlic, green chillies, cloves, black pepper, cinnamon stick and bay leaves and hing. Saute for 2 mins.

  3. 3

    Now add onions, grated ginger and cook for sometime.

  4. 4

    Add all the dry masalas, salt and bring to a boil.

  5. 5

    Now remove in serving bowl and again heat ghee, season it with red chilli powder and curry leaves.

  6. 6

    Spread it over the dal.

  7. 7

    Garnish with Brown fried onions, kasuri methi powder, coriander leaves with the tomatoe rose in the centre.
