Ingredients

  • For the chicken marinade
  • 500 gpre-cut chicken
  • 2 tbspyogurt
  • 1/2 tspsalt
  • 1/2 tspkashmiri red chilli powder
  • 1/4 tspturmeric
  • 1/2 tspgaram masala
  • 1/2 tspKasuri methi
  • For the sauce
  • 1 tbspalmond paste
  • 2 tbspghee
  • 3green cardamoms
  • 1 tspcumin seeds
  • 2onion, thinly sliced
  • 1 tspsalt
  • 1 tbspginger garlic paste
  • 2green chillies chopped
  • 3tomatoes, chopped
  • 1 tspgaram masala
  • 1 tspcoriander powder
  • 1 tspred chilli powder
  • 1 tspred chilli powder
  • 1/2 tspturmeric
  • 1/2green pepper, thinly sliced
  • 1/2red pepper thinly sliced
  • 1 tbspcoriander chopped

Steps

  1. 1

    Place all "marinade" ingredients into a bowl and mix together.

  2. 2

    Heat the ghee in the pan and add the crushed green cardamoms and cumin seeds. When they begin to sizzle add the onion along with salt and cook for 2-3 minutes until translucent.

    Now add the garlic, ginger and chilli and mix.

  4. 4

    Continue to cook for a further 2-3 minutes until onion turns golden brown.

  5. 5

    Add garam masala, coriander powder, red chilli powder, turmeric and mix well.
    Add Almond paste and saute for 2 mins.

  6. 6

    When you see the oil begin to separate from the masala paste, add the chicken.

  7. 7

    When the chicken is half cooked add the peppers and cook for few mins mixing together.

  8. 8

    Add 1/4 cup water, cover the pan and let it cook on low flame till the chicken is done.
    Finish with a sprinkle of fresh coriander.
