Ingredients

  1. 1 lbpackage of Hot Italian sausage
  2. 1 lbground beef
  3. 2Green bell peppers (Chopped)
  4. 2White Onion (Chopped)
  5. 12 oztomato basil sauce (half a jar)
  6. 14 ozcrushed tomatoes
  7. 14 ozdiced tomatoes
  8. 1 tbspchopped hot peppers
  9. 1 tspchopped jalapenos
  10. 1/2 tbspCajun seasoning
  11. 1 tspSalt
  12. 1 boxpenne to serve over

  14. I use B&G Hot Chopped Peppers and Cento Diced Jalapeno Peppers

Steps

  1. 1

    Decide how you'll be cooking the sausage. If oven baking you want to prep them now. If you decide to grill them you can do that while the chili simmers.

  2. 2

    In a large pot, start cooking the ground beef over medium heat. When the beef is almost done, drain the fat and add the chopped peppers and onions.

  3. 3

    Add the tomato basil sauce, crushed and diced tomatoes, seasoning and hot peppers and jalapenos. Keep the heat at medium until the mixture begins to boil.

  4. 4

    Cover and put on low heat after boil. Cooking time should be around 45 minutes. Check the sliced peppers for tenderness. If you like your sausage whole or sliced, you can add them now to the pot.

  5. 5

    This recipe can be served over an entire box of penne pasta. But depending on your preference start by cooking half a box.

  6. 6

    Once "chili" is done, serve over cooked penne and enjoy!
