Preheat oven to 350°F.

Cream the butter and sugars till smooth. Beat in the eggs one by one then add the essence of your choice. Mix baking soda with a little hot water and add to the batter as well as salt.

Stir in the flour and chocolate chips with a wooden spoon and try not to over mix it.

Wet your fingers and work the dough into balls and line on a baking sheet leaving enough space between each. Bake for 15mins or till a bit brown. Make sure they don't sit in the oven for long.
