After enjoying a simple yet delicious lunch at my parents' a few years ago as I sat chatting with my mother, I asked her " Meethein mein kya hain ? " She smiled at me, got up and vanished from the room . I was expecting a bowl of ice cream or some mangoes but instead she appeared with this bowl and said, " Lo, Kheer Khao !" Since it was an extremely hot, humid day, I happily grabbed the bowl and indulged in this bowlful of goodness. While polishing it off, I had already guessed a few ingredients of this unique kheer, but I loved it so much that I got her to immediately share the recipe with me which she had adapted from a recipe she chanced upon on one of the cookery shows on a Marathi Channel on TV which she follows dillegently. It is a gem of a recipe... healthy, tasty and absolutely worth trying so I am sharing it here.
