Ingredients

  1. 250 gmsRice flour -
  2. 3 tbspCoconut grated -
  3. 1Red chilli -
  4. 1 inch pieceGinger -
  5. to tasteSalt
  6. as neededHot water
  7. as neededOil - to grease the mould
  8. 2 tspOil -
  9. 1 tspMustard seeds -
  10. as neededCurry leaves - few
  11. 1Red chilli -

Steps

  1. 1

    Grind coconut, red chilli and ginger to a very thick paste by adding little water. Keep aside. In a mixing bowl, mix together rice flour, salt and the ground coconut paste.

  2. 2

    Add hot water little by little and make a dough. Roll into small balls and keep aside. Grease idli mould or steaming tray with oil and place the balls on them and steam them for 15 minutes

  3. 3

    Temper using mustard, curry leaves and red chilli.
