Ingredients

40-55 minutes

  1. Littis
  2. 2 cupswheat flour
  3. 1/2 teaspoonAjwain seeds
  4. 2-3 teaspoon ghee
  5. 1/4 teaspoonsalt
  6. as neededWater or milk to knead the dough
  7. Filling
  8. 1 cupSathu flour/ roasted gram flour
  9. 1 tablespoonmustard oil
  10. 1/2 teaspoonSalt
  11. 1/2 cupchopped coriander leaves
  12. 2green chillies crushed
  13. Chokha
  14. 2-3boiled
  15. 2-3tomatoes
  16. 1onion, finely chopped
  17. 1/4 inchginger, crushed
  18. 2 clovesgarlic, crushed
  19. 2-3green Chillies, crushed
  20. 1/2 cupchopped coriander leaves
  21. 1/2 teaspoonsalt
  22. 1/2black pepper powder
  23. 1/2 teaspoonchaat masala
  24. 1 lemon Juice
  25. as neededExtra ghee while baking and making littis

Steps

40-55 minutes

    Make littis: In a bowl mix all ingredients mentioned, crush carom seeds between palms before adding. Mix them all well.

    Add water and knead a semi soft dough. Cover and set aside.

    Make chokha: roast tomatoes in a pan like me or on a grill. Take mashed boiled potatoes in a bowl.

    Remove the skin of tomatoes and mash, add to the bowl of mashed potatoes. Add seasonings and other ingredients.

    Mix all the Ingredients, taste and adjust seasonings accordingly.

    Make filling; mix all the ingredients, add tablespoons of water to bring the mixture together. It should form a ball if pressed between palms

    Assemble; Take a lemon sized ball of dough, make cavity and stuff a teaspoon of the filling. Pinch from edges and seal the dough.

    Place the balls in a greased baking tray. Apply some ghee. Preheat oven @200C

    Bake for 15 minutes. Remove the tray flip the littis and bake for another 15-20 minutes. Once you see the cracks on the littis, it means they are cooked from inside.

  10. 10

    Remove from oven and serve with melted ghee and prepared chokha. This can be packed for kids tiffin, so they can have nutritious meal at school
