For when you need to eat healthy, but crave for something delicious. Upma to the rescue 🙌🏼

With semolina(sooji) as the main ingredient, upma can be made with just a handful of ingredients. A couple of chopped vegetables of your choice, a generous helping of curry leaves and you’re good to go.
It’s imperative for me to have some crunch to this porridge-like dish, and hence, I add roasted chana dal, fried cashews and lots and lots of peanuts 😋

Ingredients

  1. 1 cupRava/ semolina
  2. 2 tbspGhee
  3. 1/2 tspMustard seeds
  4. 10-15Curry leaves
  5. 1/2 tspChana dal
  6. 1/2Chopped onion
  7. 2-3Chopped green chillies
  8. 1 tspGrated ginger
  9. 1.5 cupsWater
  10. to tasteSalt
  11. As required Peanuts

Cooking Instructions

    In a pan, heat some ghee and add mustard seeds to it.

  2. 2

    Let the mustard seeds crackle and then add chana dal and roast it.

  3. 3

    Then add curry leaves, green chillies and ginger.

  4. 4

    Lightly roast them and then add chopped onion.

  5. 5

    Saute onions for 1/2 mins.

    Then add rava to pan and lightly roast the semolina.

  7. 7

    Then add water and cook the rava for 4-5 mins and add salt to it.

  8. 8

    Cook for another 2-3 mins.

  9. 9

    Garnish it with peanuts and serve hot.
