Ingredients

  1. 500 grammutton
  2. 2onions(medium)
  3. 2 tbspginger garlic paste
  4. 1 tspturmeric powder
  5. 1 tbspred chilli powder
  6. 2 tbspcoriander powder
  7. 2 tbspcoconut powder
  8. 1 tbsppoppy seeds
  9. 1 tspgaram masala powder
  10. to tasteSalt
  11. 1/2 cupthick curd
  12. 1 tspkewra water
  13. 200 mloil
  14. 20-25lotus seeds
  15. Whole garam masala
  16. 8-10peppercorns
  17. 4green cardemoms
  18. 1black cardemom
  19. 1mace
  20. 6cloves

Cooking Instructions

50 minutes.
  1. 1

    Heat oil in a kadahi/heavy bottomed vessel.Add oil and heat till smoking point.Fry 1 sliced onion till golden brown,take out.

    Dissolve turmeric powder in 2 tbsp water,add to remaining oil,stir immediately.Add mutton to the oil and fry on medium heat for 5 minutes.Add whole garam masala also.

    Now add another sliced onion,red chillipowder,coriander powder and salt.mix well Cook for 2 minutes on low flame.

    Meanwhile grind fried onion,coconut powder,poppy seeds and curd.Make a smooth paste.

    Add this paste to mutton,mix well.Add 2 cups water,cover and cook on low -medium flame for 40 -45 minutes or till mutton is tender.

    Now add garam masala powder and lotus seeds.Mix and further cook for 2 minutes on low flame.

    Mutton curry is ready. Put off flame and leave for 5 minutes. Add kewra water.Mix. Mutton kadahi with lotus seeds is ready to serve.

    Serve with naan/parathe.
