Rava Upma

Upma is a flavorful South Indian breakfast dish made from rava. This traditional dish involves cooking roasted rava in water that has been flavored by ghee (or oil), cashews, urad dal (lentils), chana dal (husked chickpeas), onion, ginger and additional herbs and spices.

Cooking Instructions

Dry roast the sooji or rava in a pan lightly and keep aside

In a kadai take vegetable oil and ghee and add mustard seeds, urad daal, chana daal, curry leaves and fry lightly

Add the sliced onions and chilli and fry
- 4
Now add the roasted rava and fry with the other masalas. Add salt and sugar to taste and keep stirring

Add water and stir continuously till it absorbs water and gets cooked

Finally add few more curry leaves and squeeze lemon slice at the end and serve hot
