Ingredients

Soaking Time: 8 hrs, Cook- 20 mins, Prep- 5 mins

  1. 100 gmraw Brown chickpeas (Kala chana)
  2. 1tomato medium size chopped
  3. 1onion medium size chopped
  4. 1-2green chillies chopped
  5. 1 tablespoonchopped coriander leaves
  6. 7-9Mint (Pudina) leaves chopped
  7. 1/2 teaspoonchaat masala
  8. 1/4 teaspoonblack salt powder
  9. 1/4 teaspooncumin powder
  10. 1/4 teaspoonred chili powder
  11. As neededsalt per taste
  12. 1/2lemon juice
  13. As neededWater for soaking
  14. As neededWater for boiling

Cooking Instructions

Soaking Time: 8 hrs, Cook- 20 mins, Prep- 5 mins

    Soak raw brown chickpeas (kala chana) in enough water for 8 hours or overnight. Next day drain the water and rinse the chickpeas.

    Then boil chickpeas in enough water until soft. Cover and cook for 15-20 minutes on medium flame. You can use pressure cooker to cook Kala chana.

    When the chickpeas are cooked, drain the water and keep the chickpeas aside in a large bowl.

    Now add chopped tomato, onion, green chillies, coriander and mint leaves.

    Then add chaat masala, black salt, cumin powder, red chili powder and salt. Toss to combine everything and then squeeze in the fresh lemon juice.

    Serve Kala Chana Chaat for breakfast, snack or lunch.
