Beefy Fried Rice

Fried rice is an easy way to use up leftovers, so I make fried rice quite often. Fried rice has regional variation such as Chinese, Thai, Indonesian, Japanese and more. For this recipe I used fish sauce and Chinese dark soy sauce to make something between these countries' fried rice :-)

Fried rice is an easy way to use up leftovers, so I make fried rice quite often. Fried rice has regional variation such as Chinese, Thai, Indonesian, Japanese and more. For this recipe I used fish sauce and Chinese dark soy sauce to make something between these countries' fried rice :-)

NOTE: If the leftover rice is cold, nuke it well.

NOTE: 2-go Japanese rice cups yield 700 g of cooked rice.

Oil in a stir fry pan over medium heat.

Add garlic/red pepper, cook until the garlic gets fragrant.

Add meat, break up the meat and cook until meat gets brown.

Add shallots, bell pepper, and peas. Cook until wilted.

Add warm rice and stir until everything is combined.

Add fish sauce/soy sauce/oyster sauce/palm sugar.

Mix well and make sure the rice is evenly coated with sauce.

Taste, season with salt and pepper.

Add basil and mix once more.

Serve.

I used Thai basil for this recipe, but you can use sweet basil or mint instead.
