Cooking Instructions
- 1
Whisk sauce ingredients together and let stand.
- 2
Slice Chicken into 1 1/2 inch cube squares.
- 3
Mix corn starch, flour, salt, pepper and orange zest into decent sized bowl (something large enough to dust the chicken cubes).
- 4
Dust Chicken cubes in mix.
- 5
Fill a small pot with enough corn oil that chicken cubes won't touch bottom of pot when you cook them. Heat oil medium to high.
- 6
Drop about 8 pieces of dust chicken cubes into heated oil pot. Cook 1-2 minutes. Do not over cook. Light golden color is about right. Repeat until done cooking all the chicken.
- 7
Place chicken in a deep dish pan.
- 8
Preheat Oven 375°F.
- 9
Pour sauce over chicken evenly. Cook chicken in oven for about 8 minutes. Remove chicken from sauce and let stand.
- 10
Best served with white rice, imo.. Enjoy..

I love Chinese food particularly orange chicken. Most of this recipe comes from Ree Drummond (Pioneer Woman). We love her cooking. I added vegetables and increased the sauce. The sauce is the star in this recipe. As with most Chinese food recipes you can change up the vegetables to your liking. fenway -

The original dish, inherited from Hunan cuisine, is traditionally spicier compared to General Tso's Chicken, from which this recipe is derived and is sweeter. This dish was introduced in New York in the early 1970s as an example of Hunan and Sichuan culinary style, first mentioned in the New York Times.
