Traditional Gujarati Besan sweet prepared during Festivals
Cooking Instructions

Add Besan and 3 tbsp ghee, milk in a bowl

Mix until mixture resembles breadcrumbs

Sieve besan and keep it aside
- 4
Heat 1 cup ghee in a pan
- 5
Add sieved Besan and mix well over low heat
- 6
Stir constantly for 5 minutes until aromat and golden over low heat
- 7
Keep Besan aside

Heat sugar and water in a pan
- 9
Stir until sugar dissolves completely
- 10
Add cardamom and saffron. Mix well
- 11
Boil syrup until 2 string consistency is achieved
- 12
Add sugar syrup to besan mixture. Mix constantly until sugar is well absorbed and mixture turns sticky for 5 minutes

If mixture turns crumbly add little milk
- 14
Add the mixture into prepared greased dish. level evenly to form a block

Garnish top with chopped nuts and press gently to stick to top of Besan mix

Cool completely for 2-3 hours

Slice Mohanthal into squares

Serve as required. Refrigerate until 1 week in airtight container
