Ingredients

  1. 1/2 cupchana dal
  2. 1 cupbasmati rice
  3. 1 Tbspghee
  4. 1/2 Tspcumin seeds
  5. 1bay leaf
  6. 3cloves
  7. 2green cardamoms
  8. 10cashews
  9. 1/3 Tspblack pepper powder
  10. 1/3 Tspgaram masala powder
  11. 1 Tbspginger Juliennes
  12. As RequiredSalt
  13. 1 Tspsugar
  14. 3 cupswater
  15. as required Mint leaves to garnish

Cooking Instructions

    Soak chana dal for 1 hour and basmati rice for 30 minutes. Wash and decant the water.

    Heat ghee in a pressure cooker. On low flame saute cumin seeds, bay leaf, cloves, cardamom, and cashews till aromatic.

    Saute rice and chana dal for a minute with ginger Juliennes, black pepper powder, and garam masala powder.

    Add 3 cups of water, salt, and sugar. Cook for two whistles. Then slow down the flame and cook for a minute.

    When cool down, open the cooker, garnish with mint leaves and Serve.
