Good old Rava upma with a twist ! This crunchy snack is an adaptation from a cookery show.I have modified the coating for this fried snack with healthy ingredients( oats,corn flakes and flaxseeds). The cheese stuffing really melts in the mouth when you dig a bite into it.Try this mouth-watering fried snack with a healthy magic added to it.The traditional rava upma recipe is served with a twist in this snack recipe.
The balls can be shaped as cutlets and shallow fried or baked.

Ingredients

  1. ghee Oil/ for additional taste
  2. Mustard seeds
  3. dal Split yellow
  4. Curry leaves
  5. Green chillies red chilli chopped very finely or use little powder for kids
  6. Onions chopped finely
  7. to tasteSalt .
  8. 2 1/4 cupWater Hot
  9. 1 cupRava
  10. Stuffing
  11. Cheese cheese cheese Amul Slice Cut into small squares./ cubes/mozarella
  12. Coating
  13. 2 tspFlaxseeds
  14. 1/4 cupOats
  15. 1/4 cupCorn flakes - ( i used organic corn flakes)
  16. as requiredMilk to dip the balls.

Cooking Instructions

    Prepare rava upma,by adding mustartd seed and dal in oil and once they turn brown add in chopped green chillies and onions.

    Now add in the rava and give a stir till the rava turns light brown.

    Check salt and add required boiling water and cook it in upma consistency.

    Garnish with curry leaves.

    Next,

    Mixie the ingredients for coating into a fine powder.

  7. 7

    Once the upma is cooled,take a small ball out of it.Keep 2 to 3 cheese squares inside it as stuff  and roll it like a ball again.

    Dip each ball inside milk for the coating to stick to it and gently toss the balls in the oats-corn flakes powder and deep fry in medium hot oil.

    Crispy hot cheesy rava balls are ready to roll :)
