Ingredients

25-30 mins.
5-6 servings
  1. 1/2 cupyellow moong dal
  2. 1/3 cupghee or as needed(clarified butter)
  3. 1/2 cupmawa/khoya
  4. 2 tbspsemolina (suji)
  5. 1/2 cupsugar or as per taste
  6. 1 tspcardamom powder
  7. 1 1/2 cupmilk
  8. 1 tbsppoppy seeds
  9. 1 tbsppista flakes
  10. 7-8cashews
  11. 7-8almonds
  12. Some raisins

Cooking Instructions

25-30 mins.

    First wash moong dal nicely and wipe with kitchen towel, spread and let it dry for few minutes.

    Heat a pan add washed, dried moong dal and dry roast till nice golden in colour on low to medium heat.let it cool for a while then grind it to coarse powder.keep aside.

    Heat ghee in a nonstick or in a heavy bottomed pan, add Semolina stir for few seconds add ground moong dal and roast for few minutes on low flame.(dal is already roasted so need to roast much).

    Add milk and cook until all milk is absorbed by the dal.

    Add mawa (roast mawa in a pan slightly before adding)and cook for 2-3 mins till well combined.

    Add sugar,cardamom powder,poppy seeds and nuts.mix and cook on low heat till the halwa turns light brown and start to leave ghee from sides.

    Quick and delicious moong dal halwa is ready to serve.serve hot.
