A Chef's Recipe for Sweet Onion "Steak" With Garlic Butter Soy Sauce

I'm recording this here so I don't forget the recipe.
Try not to touch the onions as they're cooking! They'll still taste good even if they break, but it's best if they don't. Coating them in a bit of katakuriko may help keep them from falling apart so easily! Recipe by Silvy1978

Slice the sweet onions (onions) into 1 cm slices. Finely chop the garlic and mix together with the ○ ingredients.
- 2
Heat some butter in a frying pan.

Once they have browned, flip them over. They have a nice color, don't they? Sauté the other side the same way!
- 5
When both sides are nicely browned, add the ○ mixture! Be careful of splattering oil!
- 6
Coat the entire surface of the simmered onions.
- 7
Transfer to a plate and garnish as you like with green onions.

Basic Onion Steak Sauce ^^ Basic Onion Steak Sauce ^^
I had cubed steak at a friend's restaurant, and I couldn't forget the taste of the sauce. So, through trial and error, comparing it to the original, I came up with my own version! As long as you remember the ratio of 2:1:1 for the soy sauce, sake, and mirin, respectively, you could make this in small amounts or adjust the amount of onion to taste. The garlic is optional. If you let the sauce cool and sit overnight in the refrigerator, the onions will lose some of their sharpness ♪ Recipe by RIE5839 cookpad.japan -

I recreated the sauce that I used to cook when I worked at a restaurant. The good thing about this is that you can make this with what you would already have at home. The key is in reducing the sauce. You could also mince the garlic, but it would hold its shape even if you cook it through, giving the sauce a rougher texture. Recipe by Silvy1978 cookpad.japan -

I always eyeball this when I make it, so I wrote down the amounts properly for reference. Otherwise they will be bitter. In Step 3, if there is too much oil, soak some up with paper towels before adding the flavoring ingredients. Otherwise the fat will congeal when the sauce is cold.
