Ingredients

  1. 1 cupWarm Water
  2. 1/3 cupCooking Oil or Softened margarine
  3. 1/4 cupSugar
  4. 1Egg
  5. 1teaspn Salt
  6. 3 1/3 cupWhole Wheat Flour (Extra 1/2 cup for dusting/kneading

Cooking Instructions

  1. 1

Dissolve the yeast in warm water. Add oil and sugar. Let stand for 5 minutes; the mixture will look bubbly.

  2. 2

Mix in egg, salt, and flour to the yeast mixture. You will form a soft and slightly sticky dough.

  3. 3

Let dough sit for 5 minutes.

  4. 4

On a very well floured surface knead the dough until smooth. Continue to add flour as necessary to avoid the dough from sticking to your hands or the surface

  5. 5

Knead for 5 to 7 mins.

  6. 6

Divide the dough into ten buns - you may need to flour your hands for this. Place on baking Pan. Allow space between buns.

  7. 7

Cover and let rest for 15 minutes. Buns will grow but not necessarily double in size. In the meantime, preheat oven to 425°

  8. 8

Bake buns for 12-15 minutes, until golden brown. Test for doneness. Cool on a wire rack.
