Ingredients

  1. 250 gmcottage cheese or paneer cubes
  2. 4 tbspbutter
  3. 1 tspginger paste
  4. 1 tspgarlic paste
  5. 2bay leaves
  6. 2cardamom
  7. 2-3cloves
  8. 1 inchcinnamon stick
  9. 2 tbspcashew nuts chopped
  10. 2whole red chillies
  11. 1 tbsppeppercorn
  12. 1 teaspoonpoppyseed
  13. to tasteSalt
  14. 1/2 tbspred chilli powder
  15. 1/2 tbspTurmeric powder
  16. 1/2 tbspGaram masala
  17. Pinchsugar
  18. 1 tspdry kasuri methi
  19. 2 tspfresh cream

Cooking Instructions

    Heat 2 tbsp butter in a large pan.

    Add red chillies and all the whole spices. Now add poppyseed and onions when onions turn translucent add the tomatoes, mix well and saute for 2-3 minutes.

    Cover and cook till tomatoes get properly softened and the spices start leaving oil. Switch off the flame. Keep it aside to cool down.

    When this mixture comes to room temperature blend it to a smooth paste.

    In a pan heat 2 tbsp butter. Put the blended mixture in it. Saute for a minute.

    Now add turmeric powder, red chilli powder, salt, garam masala and half cup water. Bring it to boil.

    Once it starts boiling reduce the flame and cook for 20 minutes or till the gravy starts leaving oil from the sides.

    Now add paneer pieces to the gravy and mix gently.

    Mix kasuri methi and cream in the curry and switch off the flame.

    Paneer butter masala is ready to serve.

    Garnish with fresh cream and serve with butter naan or lachcha paratha or any bread of your choice.
