Ingredients

  1. 1 cuprava
  2. 2 tbspoil
  3. 1 tspmustard seeds
  4. 1 tspchana dal
  5. 1 tspurad dal
  6. 1dried red chilli
  7. Few curry leaves
  8. 1onion, finely chopped
  9. 2green chillies, finely chopped
  10. 1 inchginger, finely chopped
  11. 3 cupswater
  12. 1/2 tspsugar
  13. 1 tspsalt
  14. 1 tspghee/clarified butter
  15. 1/2 slicelemon juice
  16. 2 tbspcoriander, finely chopped

Cooking Instructions

    Firstly dry roast 1 cup bombay rava on low flame for 2-3 minutes, keep aside to cool completely.

    Now in a large kadhai, heat 2 tbsp oil and add 1 tsp mustard,2 tsp urad dal,1 dried red chilli and few curry leaves. Also add jeera for more flavour.

    Now sauté till the the mustard seeds splutter.

    Add in a onion and sauté well.

    Now add 2 green chillies and then ginger.

    Now pour 3 cups water and get to vigorous boil.

    Further add 1/2 tsp sugar,1 tsp salt and 1 tsp ghee, mix well.

    Keeping the flame on low start adding roasted rava slowly, stirring continuously in another hand.This helps to prevent from any lumps formation.

    Now mix continuously till the rava absorbs water.

    Cover and simmer on low flame for 5 minutes. Or till upma is cooked well.

    Further more turn off the flame and add 1/2 slice lemon juice and 2 tbsp coriander leaves, mix well.

    Finally serve rava upma with coconut chutney or plain
