Ingredients

  1. 1/2 cupbasmati rice
  2. 1/2 cupmoong dal
  3. 4 cupwater
  4. 1 tbspghee
  5. 1/2 tspcumin seeds
  6. Pinchasafoetida
  7. 1 tspred chilli powder
  8. 1 tspsalt
  9. 1/2 tspTurmeric powder

Cooking Instructions

    Mix the rice and dal and wash it 2 times. Add 4 cups water to it and soak for half an hour.

    In a cooker, heat ghee, add cinnamon, cloves, cumin, asafoetida, turmeric powder, chilli powder and mix it. Now add soaked rice-dal. Lastly add salt and coriander powder. Stir and mix well.

    Cover the lid of cooker and let it cook till 4 whistles.

    Let the steam release. Open the lid and stir the khichdi. Serve hot with desi ghee.
