Ingredients

30 mins
4-6 servings
  1. 250 gmsSpinach Leaves
  2. 3.5 CupsWhole Wheat Flour
  3. 1/2 CupGram Flour / Besan
  4. 3-4Garlic Cloves, optional
  5. 2-3Green Chillies
  6. 2 tbspFresh Coriander Leaves
  7. 1/2 tspRoasted Cumin Powder
  8. Salt to taste
  9. Water, if required
  10. 1/4 cupOil / Ghee or as required

Cooking Instructions

30 mins
  1. 1

Wash the spinach leaves well. Blanch the Spinach Leaves in hot water for 5 mins.
Drain in a colander, allow them to cool. Reserve the water for later use to knead dough or use to cook dals or curries.

  2. 2

Add the cooled spinach leaves to a mixer jar, add the garlic, green chillies & salt and blend into a smooth puree.

  3. 3

In a mixing bowl, take the Whole Wheat Flour and Gram Flour. Add the cumin powder, finely chopped coriander leaves and 1 tsp oil.

  4. 4

Add the ready spinach puree little by little, add a little water if required and knead well to make a smooth, soft dough.

  5. 5

Cover and rest the dough in the refrigerator for 15-20 mins.

  6. 6

Now, heat a tava, make small balls of dough, roll out into circles and place on the tava to grill. Flip after a minute, grease with oil or ghee and cook on both sides until golden brown and done.

  7. 7

Serve topped with butter (I love to have them with white butter), Raita and Pickle on the side.
