Sweet and Savory Isobe Mochi With a Twist

I came up with this recipe since I was tired of the regular isobe yaki (mochi with seaweed).

You can also use vegetable oil, but sesame oil is fragrant and delicious. For those who like it on the sweet side, add a little sugar to give it a mitarashi-like touch. Recipe by Mizukichi

Sweet and Savory Isobe Mochi With a Twist

Ingredients

4 servings
  1. 4Pre-cut mochi
  2. 1Nori seaweed
  3. 1 tbspSoy sauce
  4. 1 tbspMirin
  5. 1Sesame oil

Cooking Instructions

  1. 1

    Put the sesame oil in a frying pan, add the mochi and grill both sides until well browned.

  2. 2

    Prepare the sauce by mixing the soy sauce and mirin, and when the mochi get soft, coat them in the sauce.

  3. 3

    Sandwich them in seaweed, then eat up!
