Ingredients

  1. 1 cupbasmati rice
  2. 1 cuptoor dal
  3. 1medium onion diced
  4. 1medium capsicum diced
  5. 2tomatoes diced
  6. 3 clovesgarlic crushed
  7. 1 inchginger fine chopped
  8. Tempering
  9. 1 tablespoonmustard
  10. 1 tablespooncumin seeds
  11. 4dried red chillies
  12. 1 teaspoonTurmeric powder
  13. 1 tablespoonCoriander powder
  14. 1 teaspoonred chilli powder
  15. 1 tablespoonDried fenugreek seeds
  16. 1 teaspoonDry mango powder
  17. 2 tablespoon desi ghee

Cooking Instructions

  1. 1

    Wash and soak rice and toor dal for 30 mins

  2. 2

    Pressure cook rice and dal with 3 cups or water for 5 whistles or 20 mins

  3. 3

    Meanwhile heat a pan and add ghee. Once heated add the ingredients to be tempered

  4. 4

    Add onion and saute until golden brown. Add tomatoes and capsicum and saute until softened

  5. 5

    Add the cooked rice and dal mix and mix well. Serve with papad and pickle
