I came up with a recipe that uses a lot of green onion and has a strong green onion flavour.

Fry the green onion quickly in Step 4.
It's nice topped with sesame once done. Recipe by Renbasu

Ingredients

2 servings
  1. 1Chicken breast
  2. 1 dashSalt
  3. 1 dashPepper
  4. 1Katakuriko
  5. *
  6. 1 bunchGreen onion
  7. 1 cloveGarlic - finely chopped
  8. 1thumbnail's worth Finely chopped ginger
  9. 1Sliced red chili peppers
  10. 1/2 tbspSake
  11. 1 tbspSoy sauce
  12. 1 dashSalt
  13. 1 dashPepper
  14. 15 gramsButter
  15. 1Lemon wedges

Cooking Instructions

  1. 1

Cut the chicken into bite-sized pieces with an even thickness. Lightly season with salt, pepper and katakuriko.

  2. 2

Remove the roots from the green onion and cut into 2 cm lengths.

  3. 3

Heat half of the butter in a frying pan and fry the chicken from Step 1. Continue until the chicken is cooked through to the middle, then transfer to a serving plate.

  4. 4

Heat the remaining butter in the frying pan, fry the garlic and ginger, then add the green onion. Season with sake, soy sauce and salt and pepper.

  5. 5

Top the chicken with the green onion mixture from Step 4, and drizzle on some lemon juice.

  6. 6

This is the green onion I used.

  7. 7

Soak the onion roots from Step 2 in water, and you can grow your own. Change the water daily.

  8. 8

Here are the roots from Step 7, about ten days later. There is enough to use in 2 - 3 servings of miso soup.
