Ingredients

  1. 1big bowl toor dal
  2. 2drumsticks (sehjan)
  3. 4kokam 1 big tomato
  4. 1/2 tspmustard seeds
  5. 1/2 tspcummin seeds
  6. 1/2 tspturmeric powder
  7. Pinchasafoetida
  8. 8/10curry leaves
  9. 2 tsphomemade kanda lasun masala
  10. 1/2 inchginger
  11. 4/5garlic cloves
  12. 2 tspgrated dry coconut
  13. 2 tspoil
  14. as per tasteSalt
  15. Small size jaggery
  16. as requiredWater

Cooking Instructions

    Wash and pressure cook the toor dal along with water for 3/4 whistles.

    Cool down and keep aside.

    Grind ginger garlic coconut to a smooth paste.

  4. 4

    Meanwhile cut drumsticks into lengthwise, remove it's skin & boil along with water & pinch of salt. Do not over cook.

    Heat 2 tsp of oil in a pan, add mustard seeds, cummin seeds and let them crackle.

    Add asafoetida, turmeric powder, curry leaves, grind paste & kanda lasun masala. Saute for a minute.

    Add cooked dal, mix well.

  8. 8

    Add water as per consistency of dal. It should not be too thick or thin.

    When it's boil add kokum, jaggery, salt & boiled drumsticks.

    Cook for 5 minutes.

    Serve with hot steam rice.
