Cooking Instructions
- 1
With meat cut and wash, placed in a pot with a cup of water and boil until water evaporates. Turn the heat low when its fat/oil starts to come out and stir fry the meat until slightly brown. Turn the heat off.
- 2
Add the chopped onion, crushed garlic and laurel leaves. Add the vinegar, soy sauce, a cup of water and brown sugar. Add a pinch of salt and pinch of ground peppercorn.
- 3
Cover the pot and set the heat on medium to high. Let it cook for 8-10mins, coverered with no stirring or mixing.
- 4
Check if the meat is cooked enough and if the taste needs some adjustment. If it’s good to go, turn the heat on low to medium and let it simmer for 3-5mins or until the sauce is reduced (you can tell if it does when the liquid starts to thicken).
- 5
Turn off the heat. Now, you can enjoy your pork adobo with your family!

This is a classic filipino dinner at our house. Super easy to make and it’s done in no time! There are different variations; chicken, or chicken and pork, or even shrimp! Today we used our favorite: Pork Belly. Serve with a side of steamed rice and some veggies. Dinner = Done.Ps; the measurements below are rough estimates. Grandma always eyeballs this recipe! Cheryl -

Chicken and Pork Adobo Chicken and Pork Adobo
Adobo is the most famous Filipino dish that I know. The essential ingredients in this dish are soy sauce (toyo) and vinegar (suka). The cooking style and flavor varies though in different provinces. And the version that I like most the dried (tuyo) version because I find it more savory and you can taste all the flavors in the meat.Video: https://youtu.be/z9PrPrNLdhgRecipe by: Homebasedchef homebasedchef -
Chicken and pork adobo Chicken and pork adobo
Unlike a lot of Filipino adobo recipes, this one doesn't smack you in the mouth with soy and vinegar. The pork is a treat, and comes out soft yet crispy. It may be gnarly to look at, but it's pretty wonderful. Robert Gonzal
