Wash the dates and cut in to small pieces

Heat the ghee in a pan and add dates.

Saute it till it becomes soft..

Grind the dry fruits and add to it.

Mix it well.

Let it cool, then make laddo and coat into the Poppy seeds and grated coconut.

" She smiled at me, got up and vanished from the room . I was expecting a bowl of ice cream or some mangoes but instead she appeared with this bowl and said, " Lo, Kheer Khao !" Since it was an extremely hot, humid day, I happily grabbed the bowl and indulged in this bowlful of goodness. While polishing it off, I had already guessed a few ingredients of this unique kheer, but I loved it so much that I got her to immediately share the recipe with me which she had adapted from a recipe she chanced upon on one of the cookery shows on a Marathi Channel on TV which she follows dillegently. It is a gem of a recipe... healthy, tasty and absolutely worth trying so I am sharing it here.
