Ingredients

  1. For the Beer batter
  2. 175 mlbeer
  3. 100 gflour
  4. 3 tspbaking powder
  5. 2 tspTurmeric
  6. Salt to taste
  7. For the Chips and peas
  8. 500 gPotatoes
  9. Salt
  10. 85 gfrozen peas
  11. 1 tbspbutter
  12. For the Fish
  13. 2basa fillets
  14. The beer batter

    Parboil cut chips 4 mins, blanch with cold water. Bake at 190°C for 45 mins, turning occasionally.

    Meanwhile, prepare the batter using the sifted flour, baking powder, salt and turmeric. Add the beer last and mix well until a smooth batter.

    Cover fish in the batter and deep fry until crispy and golden. Turn to get both sides

    Boil peas in water, drain and add butter. Can mash if wanted
