Ingredients

70 minutes
1 large cake 26cm tray
  1. 1 cupsunflower oil
  2. 1,5-2 cupssugar (or less if you you don't want it to be really sweet)
  3. 1 cupfreshly squeezed orange juice
  4. 1 cuptap water
  5. 3 3/4 cupsall purpose flour
  6. 6 teaspoonsbaking powder
  7. 2vanilla capsules
  8. 2-3soup spoons unsweetened cocoa powder

Cooking Instructions

70 minutes
  1. 1

Preheat the oven on 180oC. Oil and sprinkle some flour on a baking tray and set aside.

  2. 2

Beat the oil and sugar until sugar dissolves.

  3. 3

Add the juice and water. Add the baking powder and vanilla in the flour. Start adding the flour in batches, and stir until absorbed. You should end up with a thick mixture.

  4. 4

Separate the dough into two bowls. In one of them stir in the cocoa powder. You can dissolve the cocoa in a little bit of warm water.

  5. 5

Start filling the baking tray by placing one spoon full of each mixture in the middle of the tray, placing each spoon full on top of the other. This will give your cake a zebra look.

  6. 6

Bake for 50 minutes to an hour (depending on your oven.) Check if it is thoroughly baked using a knife. Let cool and take it out of the baking tray.
