Based on my ‘Instant Bread & Butter Pudding in Mug’, this savoury version can be cooked in a few minutes if you have a microwave. It’s perfect for breakfast or snack. Today I used Bacon and Spring Onion, but you can use whatever you have. Peas and Smoked Salmon would be nice.

Ingredients

1 serving
  1. 1Egg
  2. 1/2 cupMilk
  3. Salt & Pepper
  4. 1 sliceWhite Bread *add more if required, but 2 slices might be too much
  5. Butter
  6. 1 tablespoonchopped Bacon OR Ham *Smoked Salmon would be nice
  7. 1 tablespoonchopped Onion OR Spring Onion
  8. 1/2 sliceTasty Cheese (Cheddar) *torn into small pieces

Cooking Instructions

  1. 1

Crack an Egg into a mug and whisk. Add Milk, season with Salt & Pepper, and mix well.

  2. 2

Butter a slice of Bread. Cut OR tear the bread into smaller pieces and add to the mug. Allow to rest while you are preparing other ingredients. Add Bacon (OR Ham, Smoked Salmon, etc.) and chopped Spring Onion, and combine.

  3. 3

Place Cheese on top, cook in the microwave for 1 minutes. This process warms the mixture. Push the bread pieces down into the mixture, then cook again for 30 to 60 seconds. (*Note: I used 1100W microwave.)

  4. 4

Allow to rest for 1 minute, otherwise you will burn your tongue.
