Ingredients

  1. 1/4 cupyellow lentils (about 50 grams)
  2. 3carrots
  3. 3onions
  4. 3tomatoes
  5. 4garlic cloves
  6. Salt to taste
  7. 1/4 teaspoonblack pepper
  8. 1/2 teaspooncumin
  9. 1 teaspoonturmeric
  10. Hot chili powder to taste
  11. About 5 tablespoons corn oil

Steps

    Wash the lentils thoroughly. Place them in a pot on the stove. Add diced onions, carrots, tomatoes, and garlic. Add enough water to cover the ingredients. Cook until everything is tender, then turn off the heat.

    Let the mixture cool, then transfer it to a blender and blend until smooth. Strain the soup through a fine mesh strainer to remove any solids.

  3. 3

    In a pot on the stove, heat the oil. Add the strained lentil mixture, then add the spices. Cook for 10 minutes, then turn off the heat.

  4. 4

    Enjoy your light lentil soup—made without any starches like potatoes or vermicelli.
