Halwa puri is our Pakistani traditional dessert. We make it on our Special occasions , festivals and also famous in our breakfasts and get togethers.
It's also goes well with potatoes Curry and chickpeas masala recipe (find in Cookpad many more recipes are there) also be served with pickes and Vegetables. Ingredients

  1. ✓ For Halwa:
  2. 500 grmsSamolina (suji)
  3. 200 mloil
  4. 400 grmssugar
  5. 400 mlwater
  6. 4-5green cardemoms
  7. 2 tblsrose water
  8. 1/2 cupchopped Almonds
  9. 1/4 cupAlmond slices (for garish)
  10. 1/4 cupCashew nuts (for garnish)
  11. Silver edible pearls (Optional)
  12. 1 1/2 tspYellow food colour
  13. ✓For Puries (fried bread):
  14. 2 cupsall purpose flour
  15. 1/2 cupwheat flour
  16. 1 1/2 tspsalt
  17. 2 tblsoil
  18. Water (as required for kneading)
  19. Oil for frying

Cooking Instructions

    HALWA: To make halwa, take a large pan add Oil and green cardemoms. Then add Samolina and cook it in low flame till you feel fragrance and Samolina changes it's colour.

    In another pan add water and sugar and make sheera (sheera is a dissolved sugar in water mixture). So dissolved sugar and water by heating it up and bring one or two boil turn the heat off and add rose water in it. Then pour the sheera in Samolina and mix it carefully till it's combine.

    Add yellow colour and chopped Almonds, cook untill oil comes out or shown in the edges. Decorate with chopped Almonds, cashew nuts and silver pearls.

    Time to make fluffy Puries: in a clean bowl add all purpose flour, wheat flour and salt then add water slowly and make a soft dough. Now add oil and knead it again. After kneading it again leave the dough for 30 minutes.

    After 30 minutes, make small balls from dough. Flatten it by using rolling pin and oil (don't use flour only use oil). Then fry it in oil on medium high flame from both sides till light golden and fluffy. Enjoy our traditional dessert with your sweet smile. Happy Cooking.
