This spicy powder mixed with gingely oil serves as an immediate sidedish for idli/dosai.
Steps

Crush garlic and sun dry for 2 days.(optional) can directly also add in next step

Dry roast urad dal and after it turns golden brown add the garlic and saute. Remove and set aside in a plate.

Add chana dal in the same pan and dry roast till golden brown. Transfer to the plate. Similarly roast sesame seeds also till starts to splutter.

Add oil to the pan and fry the red chillies till they puff. Transfer to the plate and allow all ingredients to cool.

Take all ingredients in a blender, add asofetida and salt. Grind to fine or little coarse powder depending on your preference.

Store in an airtight container. Serve with idli or dosai.
