Ingredients

Serves 4 servings
  1. Caramel sauce (see recipes)
  2. 1.1 lbsfrozen kunafa pastry (about 500 grams)
  3. 1/4 cupice-cold water (60 ml) for whipping cream
  4. 1 cupwhipped cream (240 ml)
  5. 1/2 cuppowdered sugar (60 grams)
  6. Ghee or clarified butter

    Break the kunafa pastry into small pieces by hand or using a food processor.

  2. 2

    Add the ghee and powdered sugar to the kunafa, then bake in the oven or cook on the stovetop, stirring constantly, until golden.

  3. 3

    Whip the cream with the ice-cold water, then chill in the refrigerator.

  4. 4

    Once the kunafa has cooled, layer it in a serving dish or cups: start with a layer of kunafa, then a layer of whipped cream, then a layer of caramel sauce. Chill in the refrigerator before serving.

  5. 5

    You don't need to add syrup to the kunafa since it already contains powdered sugar and all the ingredients are sweetened.
