A delicious sweet recipe for breakfast or dinner—my younger brother loves it.

Sift the flour by passing the all-purpose flour through a fine-mesh strainer. Add the ground cinnamon to the flour and mix.

Add the sugar, melted butter, vanilla extract, and egg. You can adjust the amount of sugar and cinnamon to taste if you want them sweeter or with more cinnamon flavor.

Mix everything well until the batter is smooth and free of lumps. If the batter is thicker, the torrejas will turn out denser.

Heat oil over medium heat, then add the batter little by little to form the arepuelas.

Remove when golden brown on both sides and place on a paper towel to absorb excess oil. That's it!

Serve with scrambled eggs if you like, and for extra sweetness, sprinkle with sugar.
