Australian-Style Date Pudding

This is a common Australian recipe. I'd eaten this in cafes and wanted to try making it myself. So I looked up the recipe and gave it a shot. This pudding refers to a baked cake with dry fruits mixed in. It's pretty high in calories.
Self-rising flour is flour with baking powder already mixed in, often found in the west. If you can't get any, you can substitute by mixing in baking powder, etc into regular flour. Recipe by teebon

Cooking Instructions
- 1
Finely chop up the dates and add to a bowl. Top with the baking soda. Pour in hot water, lightly mix, and let sit for 20 minutes.
- 2
Combine the room temperature butter, brown sugar, and vanilla. Use a whisk to mix well. Once it's creamy add the egg and continue to mix.
- 3
Add the soaked dates to Step 2 and use a spoon or spatula to mix. Sift in the flour and fold in.
- 4
Pour into a baking pan covered with parchment paper, and bake in the preheated oven at 175℃ for 30 minutes (adjust the time depending on how it's cooking).
- 5
Make the caramel sauce. Add all of the ★ ingredients to a saucepan and heat. Once it starts to boil, reduce to low heat and simmer for a few minutes. Pour on top of the baked pudding and enjoy. It's most delicious when eaten warm.

English-Style Christmas Pudding English-Style Christmas Pudding
My sons loved Harry Potter so for a time I became obsessed with British cooking. I made a simple yet authentic pudding for them that uses bread crumbs. I served it with Harry Potter-style butterbeer. You can also make the breadcrumbs from scratch by finely blending some English bread too.* Brush the pudding with brandy and leave it to sit for 2-3 days for a delicious flavor.* This pudding will be even more moist after a day so leave it however long you like.* This batter is pretty thick, so you'll end up getting a bit of a work-out. Homemade Pudding Homemade Pudding
In the process of making a pudding cake, I really got into pudding. I like the feel when you put it in your mouth. So I've been making pudding everyday. I wonder how long I'll be into pudding.I included a link for a caramel sauce recipe. Be sure not to heat the milk more than about 50℃. The cooking times may vary depending on the oven used so please adjust accordingly. If you use heavy cream instead of milk you get a lighter taste. Please make by oven or pot, whichever you prefer.
