A tasty snack made from thin flattened rice known as thin poha chivda

Ingredients

20 minutes
8 - 10 persons
  1. 250 gmsthin poha
  2. 1/2 cupraw peanuts
  3. 1/2 cuproasted chickpeas
  4. 2 tablespoondry coconut pieces
  5. 2 tablespoonsplit cashews
  6. 2-3green chillies cut in pieces
  7. 1/2 cupCurry leaves
  8. 1/2 cupcooking oil
  9. 1/2 spooneach of mustard seeds, cumin seeds, sesame seeds, carom seeds (ajwain), hing and 1tsp
  10. 1 tspcoriander and cumin powder
  11. 1 spoonpowdered sugar
  12. 1/2 spooneach of turmeric powder and red chilli powder
  13. Black salt and white salt as per taste

Cooking Instructions

20 minutes
  1. 1

    Place a frying pan on medium flame. Put thin poha into the pan and spread a spoon of cooking oil over it. Mix well so that all the poha is uniformly roasted for about 5 minutes. Empty the pan in the poha in a bowl.

    Pour all the remaining oil in the frying pan and fry the peanuts and remove on the poha.

    Similarly fry the cashews and dry coconut pieces in the pan and remove them on poha.

    In the remaining oil put mustard seeds, cumin seeds, carom seeds hing, green chilli pieces, curry leaves, sesame seeds, roasted chickpeas all the while stirring the ingredients well..

    After the tempering is ready add turmeric powder, cumin seeds + coriander seeds powder, red chilli powder and mix well. Then add black salt & white salt as per your requirement. Again mix well.

    Then add thin poha with cashews, peanuts and coconut pieces. Mix well with 2 mixing spoons so that the poha gets mixed well with all the tempering. Use slow flame while mixing for about 5 minutes till the poha becomes crispy.

    Finally spread powdered sugar over the poha and mix well.

    The savoury snack, chivda, crispy and tasty is ready to be served. Store in a air tight container for longer shelf life.
