In a non-stick pan or heavy bottom pan heat oil. Add mustard seeds, cumin seeds and chana dal on a very low flame.Let the mustard seeds splutter.

Add green chillies, curry leaves and asafoetida. Now add turmeric. Saute well and add boiled peas. You can also add groundnut at this stage. (totally optional) and cook well till the peas gets cooked. Add sugar and let it melt.

Now add boiled rice. Mix everything well. Add salt as per taste. Add lemon juice mix well and serve it on a plate. Garnish with fresh chopped coriander. Serve immediately.
