All-Star "7-Layer" Casserole

To be honest... I'm not really sure that there are 7 layers here. It really depends on what you put in it, which is pretty much free game. Don't be afraid to get creative.

This is something my mom used to make when I was young and it seems to be a hit with the kiddos. Plus, it is a great leftover.

Steps

  1. 1

    Preheat the oven to 375.

  2. 2

Cook the pasta per the instructions on the box.

  3. 3

While cooking the pasta, dice up the onion, dice the tomato and shred the cheese.

  4. 4

Starting with the finished pasta, layer half of it across the bottom of a 9x13 (doesn't have to be exact... Heck use a square dish... Whatever works) pyrex dish or something similar.

  5. 5

Now layer everything else, including the can of chili, which I suggest lands in the middle of all of the layers. Only use half of the cheese. NOTE: Make sure the Doritos end up under the top layer of pasta. Placing them on top only creates a super hard shell that is tricky to eat through.

  6. 6

Finish with the remaining pasta then top off with the rest of the cheese.

  7. 7

Bake in the oven for about 20 minutes so that everything gets hot and serve like you would lasagna.

  8. 8

Optional toppings when serving: sour cream or plain greek yogurt, cilantro, taco bell sauce packets or salsa. The list is endless. Enjoy!

My parents owned a bar and restaurant during my childhood. My father was the head chef and had such a tremendously diverse style in his culinary craft. It was only a matter of time before I would turn it into my own passion.Nowadays, my interest has been taking popular recipes from the web or restaurants (ie Food Network, Food.com, All Recipes, etc.) and creating them, but with my own little twist to them. Some changes are more extreme than others, but that's what makes it so interesting. Right?Anyways... sit back and relax. I have a number of awesome recipes that will blow your mind. Enjoy!
