Tri - Colour Sandwich

Tri - Colour Sandwich is a quick and easy breakfast or starter recipe for any occasion and specially to celebrate Independence or Republic Day.It is an Indian-style recipe with three layers of filling.The layers represent the Tri-Colour of Indian flag.The green layer is made with a tangy coriander chutney along with grated cucumber and crunchy capsicum. A white layer is made with mayonnaise and cheese and an Orange layer with grated carrot, mayonnaise mixed with tomato sauce.
Each layer has a fantastic taste which is loved by kids as well as adults.

For Green Chutney:
In a mixer jar add garlic, green chilli,peanuts, tamarind chutney,black pepper powder,lemon juice and grind coarsely.Add yogurt, salt and sugar to taste and grind it once more to a smooth paste. Set aside. - 2
Now grate the carrot and then cucumber.Squeeze out all moisture from cucumber.Finely chop capsicum.Add 1 tsp mayonnaise to the tomato sauce and mix well. To the remaining mayonnaise, add grated cheese.Set aside.Cut the edges of the bread.Reserve the edges to make breadcrumbs later and store.Apply butter on the bread slices.

On one bread, apply green chutney and top it with grated cucumber and chopped capsicum as needed.Apply butter and green chutney on another slice and press it on the first slice.
Apply butter, mayonnaise and grated cheese on the top side of second bread.Place another buttered slice over it.Apply tomato sauce mixed mayonnaise on the top side of the third bread.Sprinkle grated carrot.Sprinkle pinch of salt, black pepper powder. Apply butter and tomato sauce mayonnaise mixture on the fourth slice. - 4
Press it over the third slice.To secure the sandwiches tightly, prick 2 toothpicks at 2 corners of the layered sandwiches. Refrigerate for 15 minutes. Then cut the sandwiches into two diagonally and serve in breakfast, lunch, starter or as a teatime snack.
Our Independence Day Special Tri-Colour Sandwich is ready. Serve it with a cup of hot coffee,tea or any drinks of choice.
